Terms of Service

Last updated: 7 June 2026

Who we are

Socrate is operated by Luca Tiriolo, an individual based in the United Kingdom. You can reach us at hello@usesocrate.com. By using Socrate, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the product.

What Socrate is

Socrate is an AI-powered thinking tool. It asks you questions to help you reach your own clarity. It does not give advice, opinions, or answers.

Socrate is not a substitute for professional support. It is not therapy, counselling, psychotherapy, coaching, medical advice, or legal advice. Socrate may display automated safety information if it detects language suggesting you could be at risk, but it is not a crisis service and cannot help in an emergency. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis or are in danger, please contact emergency services (112 in the EU, 999 in the UK, or 911 in the US) or a qualified mental health professional.

Who can use Socrate

You must be at least 18 years old to use Socrate. By using the product, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

If you create an account, you must provide accurate information and keep your login credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity under your account.

Permitted use

You may use Socrate for personal, non-commercial thinking and reflection. You agree to use it honestly and in good faith.

Prohibited use

You may not use Socrate to:

  • Submit automated requests or scrape the service in any way.
  • Attempt to extract, reverse-engineer, or reproduce the system prompt or underlying AI instructions.
  • Submit content that is illegal, abusive, threatening, or intended to harm others.
  • Attempt to circumvent the safety protocols built into the product.
  • Impersonate another person or entity.
  • Resell or sublicense access to Socrate without prior written permission.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms without notice.

Intellectual property

The Socrate product — including its name, design, code, and AI prompt — is owned by Luca Tiriolo. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute any part of it without permission.

Your words are yours. Anything you type during a session belongs to you. Conversation content is not stored — it is deleted automatically when your session ends. We make no claim over what you say during a session. On the Plus plan, the AI-generated closing reflection from each session is saved to your account as your session history. This is on by default for Plus members; you can turn it off (Save my reflections) or delete saved reflections at any time. Free accounts do not have reflections saved.

Billing and subscriptions

Socrate offers a free plan and a paid plan (Plus). The free plan includes a limited number of thinking sessions each month (currently five). Plus removes that limit and adds features such as voice input, saved session history, and cross-session memory. Prices are shown on the pricing page and are inclusive of any applicable taxes where required by law.

  • Payment processing — all payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details are entered directly into Stripe-hosted fields and are never stored on our servers.
  • Auto-renewal — paid subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or annual, depending on the plan you selected). You will be charged the then-current price unless you cancel before the renewal date.
  • Free trials — if a free trial is offered, your payment method will be charged automatically when the trial ends unless you cancel beforehand. The trial duration and applicable plan price will be clearly stated at the point of sign-up.
  • Cancellation — you can cancel your subscription at any time via your account settings or by emailing hello@usesocrate.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You retain access to paid features until then.
  • Refunds — except where you have a statutory right to a refund (including your cancellation rights under UK consumer law), payments are non-refundable and we do not provide credits for partial billing periods, unused time, or plan downgrades. Any cancellation or refund right the law gives you is unaffected by these terms.
  • Price changes — we may change subscription prices at any time. If we do, we will notify you at least 30 days in advance by email. Continued use after the new price takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated price.

No warranties

Socrate is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the service will be available at all times, free of errors, or fit for any particular purpose. AI responses may be inaccurate or unhelpful. Use your own judgment.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Luca Tiriolo is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of Socrate — including but not limited to decisions you make based on a session, loss of data, or service interruptions.

Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the greater of (a) £100 or (b) the total amount you paid to use Socrate in the twelve months preceding the claim.

Account termination

You can delete your account at any time by emailing hello@usesocrate.com. On deletion, your account data and session metadata will be removed within 30 days.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, with or without notice depending on the severity of the violation.

Changes to these terms

If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where possible, notify registered users by email. Continued use of Socrate after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
